Ships Passing in the Night
Two ships were passing in the night
each saw the other's blinking light
as far away from land as ships can be
nothing in common but empty sea
quite soon out of each other's sight
but in their berths far down below
each held a trav'ler seeking love
who ne'er awoke and ne'er would know
so close on the surface up above
love came and went where lost loves go
the lovers woke, felt something amiss
as they slept, true love had crossed
as on their beds they turned and tossed
there left on their lips, one tender kiss
but all in all, and just the same
they never knew from whence it came
