FILLING MY LIFE WITH THINGS
I bought me a brand new 64 K computer,
when you turned me down for a date yesterday.
It isn't half as nice as you,
It's just something for me to do.
And it fills my time until you look my way.
I called you up to ask you out to dinner,
but you told me you had plans already made.
Once again another man's the winner.
And I went out and brought me,
another game to play.
I'm just filling my life with things,
impulse buying and flings.
Things that will get me by,
things that will satisfy,
'til I get the thing that I need.
The Lions were at the Silverdome this weekend,
and I got tickets hoping you would go.
It came as no surprise to me,
it's kind of how I thought it would be.
I kept waiting for someone who didn't show.
So I broke out my Mastercard and did some spending.
And came home with a brand new VCR,
a graphic equalizer, a computer digitalizer,
and a brand new mirror,to hang behind my bar.
I'm just filling my life with things,
impulse buying and flings.
Things that will get me by,
things that will satisfy,
'til I get the thing that I need.
