The Only Survivor
Three years old and she sits alone
The only sane product of an insane home.
Tattered clothes and her teddy bear
Did no justice for beautiful blue eyes and blonde hair.
Ward of the court and home to home
Some places she was tolerated but still alone.
She's the only survivor in her own forgotten world..
Left with memories and burns that scarred
Were not as painful as a broken heart.
Distant thoughts of sisters she loved
Faded fast in the cesspool of life.
A family for her seemed like a Cinderella dream
Placed in the middle of rage and shattered pieces.
She's the only survivor in her own forgotten world
She's the only survivor in the dark rooms of her mind.
The sharp edges were smoothed by a mom and dad
Tough love was better than none and that's what she had.
Not willing to pay the price for time served
She remains the only survivor in her own forgotten world.
A beam of light appears in the dark rooms of her mind.
